Liver disease is a disease that affects the liver and its functions. Liver is one of the largest bodies and the most vital organs. It is located in the upper right side of abdomen just below the rib cage.
there are a lot of Liver function:
1. store food nutrients such as vitamins, glycogen, fats and other nutrients.
2. produces bile (fluid that helps digestion) and enzyme (protein in cells that regulate chemical reactions)
3. eliminate toxic substances (like alcohol and toxic chemicals)
4. remove waste from the body’s production and the immune system to produce infection.
A healthy liver is cone-shaped soft smooth texture and reddish-brown color. All nutrients are digested and absorbed, must be through the liver, where these substances will be metabolized by the body before it is used or discarded. liver metabolism of nutrients in the form will be sent to other parts of the body via the bloodstream, the waste from the metabolism will be forwarded to the kidneys and intestines, issued in the form of urine and feces ..
Liver has the ability to heal itself by repairing or replacing damaged cells. but despite its endurance limit of the liver can be damaged in many ways, for example alcohol consumption, inflammation of the liver, have a virus, and cancer.
Liver disease can cause complications. here are a few complications which can be outlined:
- Portal hypertension. Blood from the intestines, spleen and pancreas into the liver through a large blood vessels, which can cause internal bleeding in the liver.
- Varicose veins. When the blood flow in the portal vein is directed by the loss of healthy liver cells, it also can cause bleeding in the liver.
- Yellow. When the liver is not able to remove bilirubin, jaundice may occur. This causes the skin and whites of the eyes turn yellow.
- Infection. Decline in immune system function of the liver damage may cause an increase in bacteria, viruses and other infections.
- Diabetes. Conditions including fatty liver and hemochromatosis increases the risk of diabetes.
- Failed to heart. This occurs when the liver damage becomes so extensive that the heart can not function. Without a transplant, liver failure can be fatal.
